When setting up a home network, it is necessary to ensure that each computer has a clear and meaningful name. The system name must be unique within the network, for example to access shared files opened by the system from the network.
Please follow the steps below to change the name of your computer: p>
1. Click Start, right-click Computer and select Properties.
2. In the properties window, select the computer name, domain and workgroup settings.
3. Click to change settings. When prompted for permission, click Continue.
4. In the system properties window, click the computer name and select Change.
5. Enter the new computer name and click Confirm.
6. The system will prompt you to restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
